NZTA Level 1 Basic Traffic Controller (TC)
This workshop promotes safe working practices, standards and operating procedures for all activities on the road. This NZ Transport Agency Level 1 Basic Traffic Controller (TC) workshop covers the standards and operating procedures required by the NZ Transport Agency Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (COPTTM) 3rd Edition, July 2004.
This workshop includes the major changes to COPTTM since the Interim Edition, 2000. Successful completion of the workshop allows entry into further training to the Level 1 Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) standard of the NZTA COPTTM.
The workshop will also assist with understanding how the Health and Safety in Employment Act relates to workers on the road and their training requirements.
Outcomes of the workshop:
On completion of this workshop participants will have the knowledge to:

Assist the STMS in setting up, monitoring and removing roadwork sites in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans.
Develop a consistent approach to traffic control.
Understand the requirements for signage & equipment selection and placement.
Attendees wishing to be placed on the NZ Transport Agency database and receive a photo identity warrant card must pass the NZ Transport Agency assessment at the workshop. There is a fee of $40.00 + GST per person for issue of the ID card.
Note: The assessment is solely in respect of the NZTA qualification.
Who Should Attend?
Any person that carries out work/activities on a road or footpath or within 5 metres of the edge line of all NZTA State Highways and Local Authority roads.
